Mounatin Biking
Mountain biking is a whole day activity with many challenges for all riders from the novice to the expert. Firstly, in the first half of the morning the whole dorm after being kitted out with a bike and helmet cycle off to cashel farm for some team building games. These include an egg and spoon race, filling a bucket of water in a timed relay, and a treasure hunt, all performed on the bikes! This calls for the Dorm to learn to work together. Then the bikes are then loaded on a state of the art trailer (ready for the afternoon's adventure), whilst the dorm embarks on the second challenge of the morning, that of the now infamous obstacle course. Each year this course is varied in format but features obstacles such as the 'limbo bars', 'cycling the plank' and 'the chicane' amongst others. The runs are timed and for anyone hoping to get qualified in the sport they offer a taster of what to expect on any official training. After a well earned lunch the Dorm then heads out to 'Rob Roy' country and a forest trail setting out from Aberfoyle. This features some good off road biking and some stunning highland scenery. Buzzards can often be spotted during the ride and on one occasion even the rare Pine Marten was spotted with lunch in its mouth!
